The Herpetological Society of Cyprus (HSC) is a society founded and operating in Cyprus since 1990. HSC is registered under the societies and institutions law with registration number 880

The objectives of HSC are the promotion, study and protection of reptiles of Cyprus. The society actualize number of presentations, seminars, nature excursions, studies and research of reptiles each year along with other actions related to informing and educating the public about reptiles of the island.

After its establishment in 1990, the HSC proceeded to the creation of the first reptile and amphibian exhibition of Cyprus in the area near the monastery of Ayios Neophytos in Tala village of Paphos. The exhibition was later moved near the Baths of Aphrodite, and for a 16 years period (1993-2009) was working in the Skoulli village of Paphos. During this period more than 350,000 visitors had the opportunity to become acquainted with the lizards and snakes of Cyprus and learn about the uniqueness of some of them, the benefits provided by the control of rats, but also the hazards of Cyprus viper.

Herpetological Society of Cyprus (HSC) was established in 1990 with the aim of promoting, studying and conserving Cyprus’ herpetofauna. As part of its work, HSC fulfill presentations, educational seminars, studies and researches, along with other activities that relates with informing and educating the public about reptiles Cyprus.
